Lafayette Village Raleigh development and tenant updates

*blog link for those looking on facebook *

The development and future home of Jubala Village Coffee is well on its way to becoming the next premier Raleigh shopping destination

Many of you have been following this blog from the very beginning and have been as patient as I am to see this development and Jubala come to fruition. Jubala has been designed, the equipment has been picked out, and the city has approved and issued a buildout permit. There are still a couple minor things to be ironed out but hopefully we can get the hammers swinging soon and get this place opened.

While we continue to be patient I am excited to reveal some of the stores that are going into the development. Three stores have already opened for business and several more are close behind.

- The perfect place for those that love to cook or for those that want to learn. They have everything you need; just in time for the holiday season.

- a women's boutique offering a mix of contemporary and classic clothing at a price point for everyone! Whether you're looking for the perfect party dress, your new favorite pair of jeans, or just a little retail therapy anna and alice has what you're looking for. (I obviously copied that from their website)

- I haven't had a chance to visit yet but I hear their baker whips up some fantastic chocolate cookies!

Antonio's Gourmet Market : Opening very soon

- Aveda's premier Lifestyle salon spa and voted best salon spa in the triangle! Has serviced the triangle for over eleven years.

- fine Italian cuisine with a wood fire oven...regional recipes passed down through the generations the authentic menu will be marked with freshness and seasonality....yes please!

Village Grill: opening soon

I've had a personal tour of this place and it is spectacular. It should be a huge hit from day one and a place that I will frequent regularly. I would go ahead and make your super bowl reservation today

- North Raleigh's wine cafe that will specialize in wine tastings, wine flights, and small plates (picadas) in a romantic South American themed environment

Thoughts on Instant Coffee (VIA)

coffee that dissolves in water? It just seems weird. Kool-aid is different because it's a sugar, which when put in water the molecules break down and form new bonds with each other. Coffee shouldn't do this. Come to find out, your Starbucks VIA coffee isn't fresh coffee grounds after all. Ask the guy at the counter next time you're in and he'll tell you that VIA coffee is microground coffee that dissolves in hot water....then tell him this..."Actually it's not made of fresh coffee grounds, it's made of dehydrated brewed coffee." In other words it's coffee that has already been brewed and then dried out to form solid crystals...which can then be dissolved in water.

That's gross and so is this

Well done TOMS

I'm sure most of you are aware of the shoe company, TOMS, that gives away a pair of shoes for every pair sold. They just recently gave away their 1,000,000th pair...WOW. I love following this company, well done! http://www.toms.com/blog/

PONG

"Before winning, first comes having fun. And then after having fun you need to have passion. And after passion you have to fight. And after fighting you can win. But that's what I think."
- Krish, #1 US Ping Pong Player (under 12)

10 hours a day! Ping Pong Ping Pong Ping Pong Ping Pong. For most of us, table tennis is a game. But for the young Olympic hopefuls at the ICC in Milpitas, it's all business. Except when it's just a game.

Market Lane Coffee

I enjoy learning about what other specialty coffee companies do in their local markets. I've been following this Australian company for a while now and wanted to share it with everyone. Below are a few pictures from their flickr site and a description taken off their website (http://www.marketlane.com.au/)

*Market Lane is a small, specialty micro-roaster and café, located in Prahran Market, Melbourne.

We source and roast specialty coffee from single farms, estates and cooperatives. We seek out distinctive and superior beans that can stand on their own without blending. Our coffees are imported from some of the best coffee growers in the world. We look for coffees that reflect the profile of their region, and coffees that challenge and surprise us. We only buy, roast, and serve coffees that taste exquisite. Coffee is an agricultural product usually harvested once a year. As with all agricultural products, there is a prime time for enjoying it and then, with age, the coffee start to decline. We therefore buy our beans in small lots to ensure that we only offer coffee that is fresh, vibrant, and at its best. Our coffee offerings change with the seasons, which means our espresso blend changes throughout the year, as do our single estate offerings.*
